About Myself

I am a self-driven student at Siaya Institute of Technology pursuing Diploma in Social Work and Community Development with high self-esteem, excellent communication skills, honest and determined, hardworking and flexible, eager and willingness to learn and abiding by the principle of confidentiality.

My aim as a social worker is to enhance overall well-being and to help meet basic and complex needs of communities and people through creation of awareness, sensitization on human rights and to advocate for social justice through amplifying women and youth voices with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable.

Skills acquired from SIMUN

My experience at Siaya Muungano Network was adorable and educative. I got the opportunity to interact with different groups targeted by different interventions in the community and this boosted my self-confidence. I acquired report writing skills on how to develop a detailed activity report. I got to understand on how to develop a concept note and what is required as part of Resource Mobilization.

Lessons Learnt during my Attachment period

It is important for an organization to embrace team work since it is key for the success of any activity. Engagement with the communities is also very key during planning, implementation and reporting of project activities since it helps to understand the needs of the community and how to address them. Most of the Civil Society Organizations depend on donor funded projects and are always for a short period hence there is need to educate the community on sustainability plans.

Recommendation Message

Siaya Muungano Network has been a great organization because it fully accommodated me as an attachee for a period of 3 months, giving me the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills in handling and relating with the community through engaging me in different project activities which made me improve in my teamwork skills. I would therefore recommend Siaya Muungano Network to anyone who wishes to be part of the great team that impacts the community positively.
